Water filtration is a crucial part of the job for professional solar cleaning contracts. To break it down;

Imagine your solar panels as windows that need to be cleaned to let the sunshine in properly. Over time, dust, dirt, and other grime can settle on the panels and make them less effective at capturing the sun’s energy.

Now, when expert solar cleaning people get to work, they use water to clean the panels. But here’s the thing; not just any water will do. You need super clean water, like the purest water you can image. That’s because regular tap water might have impurities in it that could leave marks or spots on the panels, just like water spots on your glasses if you don’t dry them properly.

So, professionals use a special system called “water filtration”. This system takes regular water and cleans it up even more. It removes all the tiny particles and minerals, leaving behind pure water that won’t leave any marks on the solar panels.

Deionized water contains no ions which help to conduct electricity, therefor it is a poor conductor of electricity, eliminating the risk of electrocution should there be a faulty cable.

This clean water helps do a fantastic job because when you spray it on and brush it off the panels, it washes away all the dirt and dust without leaving anything behind. This means the panels can shine as brightly as possible and capture the most sunlight to make energy.

Professional Solar Cleaning contractors will always use Deionized or Reversed Osmosis water to deliver the highest quality cleaning.

3 Stage Di System trolley is developed specifically to clean Solar Panels and Windows

Stage 1

Pre Filter to remove larger particles such as sediments, sand or dirt from the water before it enters the RO system

Stage 2

RO Membrane removes dissolved impurities from the water and rejects chlorine and salt found in municipal and borehole waer

Stage 3

Di Resin filter that removes Calcium, Magnesium, Iron and Hydrogen making it pure water with a TDS reading of below 10ppm (parts per million), depending on input water.

A pressure pump is mounted on the system if the inlet water pressure is below 4 bar

What kind of return can you expect on your investment

Offering both a per-panel and an hourly rate depending on the building's characteristics and access difficulty is a good way to provide flexibility to your customer.

Additionally, tying the benefits of clean panels to increased PV supply and electricity savings from Eskom helps justify the cost of the cleaning service to potential customers.

The following is a breakdown of our approach;

PRICING STRUCTURE:

Price per panel: This provides a straightforward cost calculation for customers with a set number of panels

Hourly rate: This covers situations where the complexity of the building and the need for specialised equipment or longer work time necessitates an hourly rate.

BUILDING TYPES:

Single-Level buildings with easy access: Charging a lower rate in these cases makes sense since there is less complexity and risk involved due to easy access using ladders.

Multi-Level buildings: Charging extra for the sue of scaffolding, cherry pickers or longer ladders to access solar panels is appropriate due to increased equipment and potential risks involved.

VALUE PROPOSITION:

Immediate increase in PV supply: Highlighting the immediate benefits of cleaner panels in terms of increased PV supply resonates well with customers who want the solar systems to perform optimally.

Electricity savings justification: Emphasising that the cost of cleaning can be offset by the savings in electricity use from Eskom provides a clear financial rationale for customers to opt for your service.

RECURRING CLEANING SERVICE:

Advising customers to request recurring cleaning services when panels are dirty or when PV supply drops encourages long-term relationships and ensures panels are consistently maintained for optimal performance.

CUSTOMER EDUCATION:

Educating customers about the impact of dirt and dust on solar panel efficiency and the benefits of regular cleaning can help build trust and make them more likely to opt for your service.

COMMUNICATION:

Clearly communicate the pricing options, benefits and scheduling process on your website, marketing materials and when interacting with potential customers.

Remember to always stay updated with industry best practices and any changes in solar panel technology that might effect your cleaning approach. Providing excellent service and maintaining open communication with customers will help you build a loyal customer base and contribute to the success of your solar panel cleaning business

The iCleanSolar RoDi system trolley is equipped with a pressure pump and bypass valve that allows you to make use of the 6-8bar pressurised water.

So an add on to the business can be offered to the client to wash the gutters and soft wash the roof and exterior walls.

Windows and Signage boards can also be cleaned with the RoDi pure water using the Telescopic Water Fed pole with a reach of up to 7m high.
